Energy Interconnector
Energy Interconnector

Aquind is a company which is currently seeking to build an electricity interconnector cable with France and proposes to trash parts of Portsmouth in order to do it.

They are now trying to seek government backing for their project and the government will have the final say on whether development consent is granted for the scheme.

Aquind has no prior trading history and seems to be financed by loans from un-named overseas companies. The area where Aquind has been active is giving donations to the Conservative Party and it’s MPs to the tune of £1.1 million, either through the company itself or through the office of it’s part-owner.

This whole thing stinks and Stephen Morgan MP has been campaigning against this on behalf of his constituents.

I also raised the issue in Parliament this week where I asked ministers to call a halt to this seedy enterprise, and certainly not endorse its wild and inappropriate planning proposals.
