Some meetings from Alan's diary this week...
28th September - 2nd October 2009
Monday
On the second day of the Labour Party Conference in Brighton, Alan will be interviewed by Radio Solent and meet with representatives from the Home Builders Federation, the National Housing Building Council, the Nuclear Decommission Authority, the Consumer Council for Water, Ford and MIND and a delegation from Poland. He will also attend a Fabian Society roundtable on renewable energy targets, a British Wind Energy Association event, and a GovNet debate. In the evening, he will chair an Associate Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group roundtable in the Climate Clinic entitled ‘Sustainable energy in a climate constrained world. How clean energy can help save money’.
Tuesday
On the third day of the Conference, Alan will attend a Hyde Housing Association meeting, a Socialist Environment and Resources Association transport event, and a Green Fiscal Commission event entitled ‘more jobs, less carbon: isn’t it time for green tax reform?’ Alan will also meet with representatives from the Electoral Commission, the Energy Networks Association, Rio Tinto and Coca-Cola. He will speak at a Sustain roundtable in the Climate Clinic entitled ‘Public procurement for public good' before watching Gordon Brown's speech at 2pm.
Wednesday
On the fourth day of the Conference, Alan will attend an Unlock Democracy roundtable, a Labour Friends of Poland training event and a joint Justice – Society of Labour Lawyers event regarding a British Bill of Rights. He will meet with representatives from the Energy Saving Trust, National Express, the World Wildlife Fund and the National Union of Students.
Thursday
Once Alan arrives back in Southampton, he will attend the launch of Black History Month at Southampton Art Gallery and then do a home visit for a disabled constituent.
Friday
Alan will hold his first constituency surgery of the month in Bevois.
Saturday
Alan will hold his second constituency surgery of the month in Lordshill. He will then speak at a conference entitled ‘Genuine Low Carbon Living’ at Avenue St Andrew’s Church before watching the Saints v Gillingham match.
Sunday
Alan will speak at a Southampton Labour Party members' Policy Forum to help shape the party's 2010 Manifesto for Southampton.
