Visit to Siemens Northam Traincare Facility

Northam_Traincare_Facility.jpg

On Tuesday I had the opportunity to visit  Siemens traincare facility in Northam. The facility maintains the class 450 & 444 fleets for South West Trains.

While on my tour of the facility it was great to hear about the number of apprentices employed by Siemens and their partnership with the National Skills Academy for Rail Engineers (NSARE) to construct a National Training Academy for Rail (NTAR) in Northampton, which will offer Siemens employees in Southampton the opportunity to improve their skills in a sector which currently has a skills shortage.

I have been a passionate supporter of creating more engineering jobs within Southampton. Therefore, it is great to see companies such as Siemens offering apprenticeships and jobs to people in Southampton and look forward to their continued involvement in the city.
