Today marks 5 years since our colleague Jo Cox was murdered whilst working in her constituency and my thoughts on this day are with her family.

Jo’s now famous words from her maiden speech in parliament ‘We are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.’ have served as her legacy.

Here in Southampton we have gathered with each other every year at events across the city in Jo’s name and I look forward to when we can do so again.

We need more than ever to heed these words as we start to come out of a crisis that has fundamentally changed so much in our country.
