Building Schools for the Future Petition

The Tory-Lib Dem Government's decision to cancel £200 million worth of rebuilds and IT upgrades for Southampton's schools is a betrayal of our city's future. The whole reorganisation of schools in the west of the city- such as Upper Shirley going to mixed sex status and ending the two-site split for Lord's Hill Academy- all depends on the government providing this funding. Without it, huge extra costs will have to be borne by the schools and ultimately the young people who attend them.

The Government doesn't have to do this. They are choosing to take money away from school building programmes to instead pay private companies to set up new free market schools that won't benefit Southampton.

During the election David Cameron said there was 'no doubt' Southampton would get its BSF funding. Sign up below to demand David Cameron keeps his promise and restores Building Schools for the Future funding for all the Southampton schools that were promised it.

I call on David Cameron to keep his promise and restore Southampton's Building Schools for the Future funding
