ALAN WHITEHEAD AND JOHN DENHAM TO OFFICIALLY OPEN SOUTHAMPTON’S THIRD AGE CENTRE

Alan Whitehead MP and John Denham MP will officially open Southampton’s Third Age Centre at 1.30pm on Friday 30th January. Based in Cranbury Terrace, the centre is the result of an ambitious project to turn a former casino into an innovative centre for the city’s over-50s. It will provide a base for many of the city’s caring groups who work with the elderly as well as offering various health and artistic activities. The project has been funded with money from the city council, regeneration funds and the National Lottery.

Alan Whitehead MP, for Southampton Test, said: “I am delighted to be opening the Third Age Centre which offers so much for the young at heart of Southampton. I am particularly pleased it has brought back to life such a wonderful building at the heart of our community.”

John Denham MP, for Southampton Itchen, said: “It’s excellent to see all these organisations such as Age Concern, the City Council, Southampton City College, the Alzheimers Society and others working together to provide this new centre for older people.”
