The Great Carbon Crunch Summit

Dr Alan Whitehead, Member of Parliament for Southampton Test spoke this week at The Great Carbon Crunch, a climate change summit, in which he called on the construction industry to work together to both implement the full extent of the Code for Sustainable Homes and to ensure that energy efficiency measures are properly installed in the 60% of existing homes which will still be here in 2050.

The summit was organised by Architects’ Journal, Construction News, and New Civil Engineering magazines and was attended by over 250 people. Dr Whitehead was speaking on a panel, with the shadow climate change ministers from the Conservative and Liberal Democrats front benches, which discussed how government policies could help tackle climate change.
