The difference between what Osborne said in his speech and what his own back up documents say is quite astounding.
He painted a rosy picture but the supporting documents to the Budget tell a different story. A story where the bottom quintile of society stands to lose the most, and where smoke and mirrors tactics can't hide the fact that real spending is going to be squeezed far more than it has been over the past 5 years (OBR).
This was an unbelievable budget speech, where the Chancellor spent an hour telling people that they're better off when they don't feel it, when the cold, hard facts of his department's documents clearly show otherwise. The Tories have once again proved that their recovery is for the few, not the many. Only Labour will deliver a fairer economy that works for all and not just the best off.
