Labour's better plan for equality

Did you know that women in the UK earn 18.6% less per hour than men? Yesterday was #equalpayday and I wanted to mark the occasion with the women who are helping me with my campaign.

The stronger, fairer society that we as the Labour Party strive for is one where women get equal pay for equal work. But in the last five years progress to close the gender pay gap has slowed. Instead of taking action the Tories have chosen to hit women harder, with women bearing 85 % of the impact of tax and benefit changes.

Today we're launching our women's manifesto which sets out Labour's better plan for equality for men and women from the shop floor to the boardroom. To learn more about our plans, take a look here: http://www.labour.org.uk/blog/entry/labours-manifesto-for-women
