Last winter over 30,000 people died of the cold in the UK. Millions of others have to make the desperate choice between heating and eating due to high energy bills.

Last winter over 30,000 people died of the cold in the UK. Millions of others have to make the desperate choice between heating and eating due to high energy bills.

That’s why I’m supporting the Energy Bill Revolution campaign, which is calling on the Government to use carbon tax revenues to invest in a major energy efficiency programme to combat fuel poverty. I believe that more energy efficient housing is the only permanent way for us to solve fuel poverty and high energy bills once and for all.

This week – 3rd to 7th February – is Cold Homes Week and to mark the occasion I’ll be hosting a reception in Parliament to call on the Government to take decisive action.
